Aviation Spectrum Agency in the U.S.
Our organization entered into a contract with LS telcom to purchase the LS OBSERVER Portable Monitoring Unit (PMU). The PMU is a handheld spectrum monitoring device that allows us to monitor the spectrum continuously and store results for later use, but also allows us to make live spectrum measurements in some airports throughout the United States [...]. The PMU has been very useful in our radio frequency interference investigations.
We have been pleased working with LS telcom for the past few years. What we appreciate most about LS telcom, is their ability to understand our business and to continuously support in a timely manner, our training requests, and other ad hoc general requests.

Above that, we use the tool to calculate the network coverage, plan radio links and the broadband network set up, as well as for documentation purposes. CHIRplus_FX (now: CHIRplux_TC) is extremely helpful regarding the broadband network setup within the 3,5 GHz band operated by the Smart Meter Project.

I would like to take this opportunity to also thank your company for the support regarding the RRC-06-preparations, for example the quick supply of a tool that converted the requirements handed in at the ITU in ArcView-Shape-files. ITU is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technology issues, and the global focal point for governments and the private sector in developing networks and services. For nearly 145 years, ITU has coordinated the shared global use of the radio spectrum, promoted international cooperation in assigning satellite orbits, worked to improve telecommunication infrastructure in the developing world, established the worldwide standards that foster seamless interconnection of a vast range of communications systems and addressed the global challenges of our times, such as mitigating climate change and strengthening cybersecurity. ITU also organizes worldwide and regional exhibitions and forums, such as ITU TELECOM WORLD, bringing together the most influential representatives of government and the telecommunications and ICT industry to exchange ideas, knowledge and technology for the benefit of the global community, and in particular the developing world.
The 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) has been established to serve as the central and global forum for addressing, discussing, and evaluating relevant technical, regulatory, and business aspects with respect to 5G for the industrial domain. It reflects the entire ecosystem, encompassing all relevant stakeholder groups from the OT (operational technology) industry (such as industrial automation, machine builders or end users), the ICT (information and communication technology) industry (such as chip manufacturers, network infrastructure providers or network operators), academia (such as universities or research institutes) and other relevant groups (such as authorities or associations).
AFCEA International, established in 1946, is a non-profit membership association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, IT, intelligence, and global security.
CITEL, an entity of the Organization of American States, is the main forum in the hemisphere in which the governments and the private sector meet to coordinate regional efforts to develop the Global Information Society according to the mandates of the General Assembly of the Organization and the mandates entrusted to it by Heads of State and Government at the Summits of the Americas.
LS telcom is a member of the Permanent Consultative Committee II: Radiocommunications (PCC II) of the Inter-American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL), part of the Organization of American States (OAS).
The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) is a non-profit, non-government, professional association of broadcasting organisations, formed in 1964 to facilitate the development of broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific region and to organise co-operative activities amongst its members. It currently has over 281 members in 69 countries, reaching a potential audience of about 3 billion people.
The ABU provides a forum for promoting the collective interests of television and radio broadcasters, and encourages regional and international co-operation between broadcasters.
Full members must be national free-to-air broadcasting services in the Asia-Pacific region, but there is an associate membership category that is open to provincial broadcasters, subscription broadcasters and national broadcasters in other parts of the world, and an affiliate category that is open to organisations connected to broadcasting that wish to have an association with the ABU.
The ATU's vision is to be an engaged, stable and credible institution that facilitates Africa’s participation in the global information society thereby fostering development in Africa. Their mission is to promote the rapid development of the ICTs in Africa in order to achieve universal service and access to broadband.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, CCA advocates on behalf of its members’ interests and works to educate policymakers on the key issues that impact their members’ ability to compete, survive, and thrive. Currently these issues include access to spectrum, access to devices access to networks, universal service fund (USF) reform, Next-Generation 911 (NG911) solutions, among others.
Advocating before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the White House and Congress, CCA works to ensure that our members’ voices and views are heard not only by policymakers but also by the media, third parties and throughout the entire wireless industry.
CCA is committed to being the premier advocacy organization for competitive wireless carriers and stakeholders. CCA will use advocacy leadership, education, and networking opportunities to help competitive carriers grow and thrive in the wireless industry.
The PMeV pursues integrated approaches to the use of standardised technologies for the needs of PMR users. Drawing on its experience with analogue (conventional mobile radio, MPT1327) and digital (TETRA, DMR) PMR systems and professional digital paging the association draws up future-oriented utilisation concepts. At the same time, it gives consideration to complementary technologies such as WiMAX and other broadband standards, and integrates these to create a complete communications solution.
In collaboration with the appropriate standardisation bodies and in close consultation with regulatory authorities and users the PMeV is a proactive contributor to the standardisation and further development of PMR services. The association acts as the mediator between international bodies and the national interests of users. Furthermore, it hosts workshops, trade fairs, congresses and other events to inform users and other interested parties of the development of standards and new product solutions. The PMeV is the non-profit sponsor of PMRExpo.
The TETRA Association was established in December 1994 to create a forum which could act on behalf of all interested parties, representing users, manufacturers, application providers, integrators, operators, test houses and telecom agencies. Today the TETRA Association represents more than 160 organizations from all continents of the world.
The goal for the TETRA Association is to provide a forum for all those interested in TETRA to encourage adoption of the standard and support initiatives to obtain appropriate levels of spectrum such that growth in operational TETRA systems is not restricted by regulation.
The German association for technical communication “tekom e.V.” is Europe’s leading professional association for technical communication. It is a platform for the exchange of information and experience, and promotes the training and advanced qualification and further professionalization of its members. The tekom is committed to increasing the standing and position of technical communication in companies and in the public. In 1978, it was founded in Stuttgart and has retained its headquarters there to this day. The Ministry of Finance recognizes it as a professional association. The tekom is an association for people working in the field of technical communication or in similar areas of information development and information management.
The German UPA is a professional association of experts in the field of usability and user experience. The association is leader in the field of “Usability & UX” and represents it across various economies. The German UPA is a high-level network for and from usability experts. The association highly profits from the volunteer work of its members who are committed to transfer knowledge and format opinions with regards to “Usability & UX”.

The 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) at the University of Surrey is now the largest UK academic research centre dedicated to the development of the next generation of mobile and wireless communications. Bringing together leading academic expertise and key industry partners in a shared vision, the 5GIC will help to define and develop the 5G infrastructure that will underpin the way we communicate, work and live our everyday lives in the future.
This is our home: Braunschweig, the »City of Science«, rich in tradition and located right at the heart of Europe’s most active research region. Our academic community comprises more than 20,000 students and 3,600 university employees. The size of our campus is ideal: we are able to offer a range of state-of the-art teaching and research facilities with a personal, close-knit atmosphere.
Our core disciplines are engineering and natural sciences. They are closely linked to our other disciplines of humanities and economic, social, and educational sciences. In the area of engineering, we are number one in Northern Germany in terms of the quantity and variety of courses offered.
On October 1st, 2009, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was founded by a merger of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and Universität Karlsruhe.
KIT bundles the missions of both precursory institutions: A university of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg with teaching and research tasks and a large-scale research institution of the Helmholtz Association conducting program-oriented provident research on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany. Within these missions, KIT is operating along the three strategic fields of action of research, teaching, and innovation.
The Institut für Hochfrequenztechnik und Elektronik (IHE) is one of the 13 institutes of the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Universität Karlsruhe (TH). Founded about 60 years ago, the IHE performs research in nearly all fields related to microwaves. In close cooperation with industry as well as state funding organizations the IHE is working on technologies for a large variety of applications, e.g. wireless communication systems, electromagnetic sensors, ultra wide band systems, automotive radars.
The Communications Engineering Lab (CEL) belongs to the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Research at CEL mainly focuses on the field of mobile communications as well as on digital signal processing as its scientific foundation: Software defined and cognitive radios; Dynamic spectrum management; Efficient, resource-optimized radio transmission; Ultra wide band; Digital signal processing and analysis. Consistent with these research topics, co-operations in national and international research programs are pursued. Joint projects with industry and public customers complete the creative scientific work.
The University of Applied Sciences Offenburg is one of the leading Institutions of Higher Education for Technology and Engineering, Business and Media in the region of the Southern Upper Rhine area in Germany. About 4,500 students enrolled in four faculties find a wide spectrum of high quality accredited Bachelor and Master degree programs.
For the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (E+I) education without close contact to industry would be unthinkable. Applied research, development and technology transfer are further indispensable elements for this faculty. Professional staff and scientific assistants conduct research and development in e.g. the areas of microelectronics, control engineering, mobile communication and satellite navigation, optoelectronics and software technology. LS telcom has been a reliable partner of this University for many years. Students prepare their graduate thesis with the company and even start their professional career at LS telcom. LS telcom also offers professional network planning software to the University which is used by the students in telecommunications in different lab courses.
The Institut für Rundfunktechnik has been committed to preserving broadcasting in Germany and abroad. This commitment also extends to new markets and modern requirements.
IRT's extensive experience enables it to provide its associates and clients with reliable and knowledgeable service every step of the way, from the development of new broadcasting/media technologies to their implementation.
Its associates are the following public broadcasters: ARD, ZDF, DRadio, ORF and SRG/SSR. In addition, the institute collaborates not only with numerous clients in the broadcasting, media, communications-engineering and IT sectors, but also with various research organizations and institutions of higher education.
Canada's Federal Centre of Excellence in Information and Communications Technologies
The Communications Research Centre (CRC) is the Canadian government's primary laboratory for research and development (R&D) in advanced telecommunications, with a critical mass and expertise in four major platforms that form the basic transport mechanism for information delivery across Canada: wireless, broadcasting, satellite and fibre optics.
LS telcom has integrated the "CRC-Predict" propagation model into their Broadcast planning software CHIRplus_BC and is entitled to maintain the most recent version. The model may also be integrated into LS telcom's EMC analysis tools.
"CRC-Predict" was developed by the CRC and has achieved worldwide recognition as a propagation prediction method considering various propagation effects (e.g. diffraction, earth curvature, land-use etc.). Many LS telcom customers use the model in their tool.
