Record participation for LS Summit and UserGroup 2008

Record participation was marked for this year’s LS Summit and UserGroup which took place in Lichtenau from 30th of June until the 3rd of July. 140 delegates from 29 countries were counted for the LS Summit Conference Day and over 60 participants attended the UserGroup.

TETRA Access Network Planning for the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg

LS telcom will carry out the design and planning of the microwave–based access network of the new BOS/TETRA network for the Ministry of Interior in the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg. The planning process includes the design of the network topology, capacity planning and the detailed planning of each single microwave link including site surveys and Line-of-Sight checks.

‘Digital Radio in Europe’: LS telcom presents Study Results during Plenary Session of the ‘Digital Platform Austria’

LS telcom experts were engaged by the Austrian Regulatory Authority (Rundfunk & Telekom Regulierungs-GmbH, short: RTR) to undertake a study on digital radio in Europe. The aim of the study was to assist the principals in their decision making process for a potential launch of T-DAB in Austria. The results of the study were presented by LS telcom during the plenary session of the ‘Digital Platform Austria’ on the 23rd of June in Vienna. 80 members participated in the session.

NARFA NL selected SPECTRA System

LS telcom was selected by NARFA NL (National Allied Radio Frequency Agency of the Netherlands) for the delivery of a spectrum management software system including the strategic spectrum planning tool SPECTRAplan and the electromagnetic compatibility and frequency engineering tool SPECTRAemc. The ARCADE database of the NATO will be used as the central spectrum management database in this configuration. ARCADE will also be used to store and administrate all sites and network relevant data. Both, SPECTRAplan and SPECTRAemc support an interface to ARCADE.

Spectrum Management Study in Monaco

The DCCT (Direction du Contrôle des Concessions et des Télécommunications), the frequency regulatory authority of the Principality of Monaco assigned LS telcom to carry out a study to determine their spectrum management and monitoring system requirements. The aim of the study was to define the basic short term system requirements, taking into consideration budget and time constraints. Best practices were developed for the urgent acquisition of a new short-term system. The second part of the study involved the establishment of a long-term system architecture, including different system components to guarantee sustainability.

Broadcast Training for Media Commission, Kosovo

The Independent Media Commission Kosovo has booked a customised two-week broadcast training course which was held by LS telcom in Lichtenau, Germany. The training included broadcast planning issues, tool training and specific technology courses, such as digital video broadcast.

MCMC Malaysia rolls out SPECTRAemc regionally

After their spectrum management system upgrade accompanied by a refresher training course, the Malaysian regulator, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has passed an order of supplementary SPECTRAemc licences for their regional offices. This order was also accompanied by advanced tool training at the customer’s premises.

Peter Bury, Ofcom UK, becomes new chairman of LS telcom User Group

Peter Bury, Director of Spectrum Policy at Ofcom, the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industry, takes the Chair of the LS telcom User Group.

Capacity Building in Nepal

LS telcom has won an extensive consulting contract with the Nepal Ministry of Information and Communications (MOIC) for capacity building.
The project is financed by the World Bank. The main objective of the consulting services is to build capacity and enhance skills and knowledge in the Frequency Management and Technology Analysis Division (FMD) of the MOIC Nepal

LS of South Africa was contracted to perform FM radio and analogTelevision planning for several transmitter sites in Madagascar. The initial planning was performed as a desktop study using CHIRplus_BC.

Polish Operator selects LS telcom Software Tools

In a highly competitive international tender, LS telcom was selected by the Polish Broadcast and Telecom Operator TP EmiTel to supply CHIRplus_BC to support them for future broadcast planning and MULTIlink for backbone planning.

...and again Poland

Besides TP EmiTel, the Polish Power Transmission and Distribution Association contracted LS telcom to supply a range of planning tools to improve their internal planning capabilities. The scope of supply includes planning tools for broadcast, microwave and TETRA services.

From the News: Ofcom launches First Stage of LS telcom Licensing System

Ofcom, the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries has successfully launched the first phase of its complex licensing programme which offers an upgraded IT solution for spectrum management integrated with core business processes such as contact and financial management.

Malaysia – Spectrum Management Strategic Review Project

In execution of its mandate the Malaysian regulator MCMC has embarked on a Spectrum Management Strategy Review Consulting Project (“SMSR”) with the objective to improve and to develop a future framework. The contract for this significant consulting project has been awarded to our local partner and representative Wamata Solutions Shd. Bhd which is part of the joint expert team consisting of LS telcom Limited (former Spectrocan), Canada, InterConnect Communications Ltd., UK and Wamata Solutions, Malaysia.

Consulting Services: TETRA/BOS Terminals

The Ministry of Internal Affairs in Hamburg/Germany assigned LS telcom with consulting services for the provision of terminals, their user surfaces and accessories and awarded maintenance and service orders within the future BOS digital network of Hamburg.

TETRA and Microwave Planning Tools for the Federal State of Saxony

The Ministry of the Interior of the Federal State of Saxony in Germany has acquired several licenses of MULTIlink and xG-Planner for the planning of their BOS/TETRA network.

New LS telcom Office in Oman

LS telcom Seminar and Workshop on Mobile TV held for MCMC

On demand of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commision LS telcom carried out a 2-days Information Session on Mobile TV in Cyberjaya. Close to 50 participants, employees from the technical and non-technical departments of the regulator authority, as well as representatives from the telecommunication and broadcast industry joined the event opened by the Chairman of MCMC Dr. Halim Shafie.

Mobile Monitoring System for the Sultanate of Oman

In 2006 LS telcom signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman for the provision of a frequency management and monitoring system. The deliveries included customized Spectrum Management Software (SPECTRAplus, SPECTRAview, SPECTRAplan, SPECTRAemc, MULTIlink, CATCHit and MONITORplus) as well as the integration of Monitoring Equipment into a Toyota Landcruiser.
